Why?

Just what is it in the Christian mentality that makes them believe not just impossible things but things for which there is not a germ of reliable evidence, often not a germ of evidence at all other than hearsay? And why do they speak of Christian scholars when they will not take a blind bit of notice of what the scholars say, unless it matches what they have always believed. The askwhy webpages at:

and

http://www.askwhy.co.uk/judaism

looks at the evidence for Christianity and Judaism—the stories in the Christian New and Old Testament—and finds that many Christian and most Jewish scholars accept that much of it is mythology. Do Christians think that God is trying to trick them in making history seem different from the myths in the so-called holy books? When the holy books are so much at variance with scholarship, would it not be more sensible to realize that dishonest people in the past have lured honest Jews and Christians into believing falsehoods? How do they know that God has been trying to persuade them of their errors but the Devil has such a grip on them that they will not listen? I have a lot of relevant analysis of these matters at the askwhy website. Take a look, even you Christians, if you dare!
